Ari — agent development environment

An agent development environment for people who already have agents.

Coding agents became powerful CLIs. One terminal at a time is the bottleneck.

Ari is a desktop environment for the coding agents already installed and signed in on your machine. It finds them, drives them through their own protocols and reuses your logins. No accounts, no OAuth flows, no cloud in between.

  • Claude Code
  • Codex
  • OpenCode
  • Grok
  • Pi
  • Hermes

Plus Ari Core, which turns any OpenAI, Anthropic or Ollama compatible endpoint into a full coding agent. Agents you don't use stay unlisted: detection is passive and offline.

Run them side by side.

Claude Code in one pane, Codex in the next, both live. Start a session, point it at a project and let the agents work while you read, review or start another.

Claude Code and Codex working in one project, each in its own pane.

Every agent you already have

Each installed CLI is found automatically and driven through its own protocol: ACP where the agent speaks it, structured CLI fallbacks elsewhere. Your existing logins carry over.

A terminal room, not a tab

Split any pane right or down, drag the dividers or nudge them with the arrow keys. Every pane keeps running in the background, and its scrollback survives when you rearrange.

Review and ship in place

The Changes pane shows the diff of every turn. Stage, commit, push and open a pull request in one flow, without leaving the session.

Sessions you can trust.

Every turn is appended to a journal on your disk, with a git checkpoint behind each change. Review what an agent did, revert just that turn, or resume exactly where it left off.

The journal is the session: the screen is drawn from it, so replay is exact and resuming costs nothing. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Revert any turn: the ones after it stay as they are.

Your phone is a remote control.

Pair a phone and keep the work moving from anywhere. Start sessions, send prompts, answer approvals with the agent's own choices, or stop a turn. The agents keep running on your computer; closing the phone changes nothing.

Tailscale
No account. Your desktop serves the phone app on your own tailnet, so nothing leaves your devices, even with the phone on cellular.
Ari Connect
A hosted connection, by invitation, for when a tailnet isn't an option.

Every phone is approved at the computer, by name and a short code, and reaches only the projects you grant it. Revoking is immediate. Its key never leaves the phone.

Quick on a slow PC, too.

Switching sessions is a same-frame swap: your scroll position and draft are still there. Streaming replies redraw only what changed, and nothing on a click path takes longer than 200 ms.

References
Mention files with @ and a ranked popup, or drag them from the explorer or the Changes list into the prompt.
Models
One picker across providers with their live model lists. A session keeps its model after the first turn.
Sessions
Replies stream as they're written. Resume any session, or edit a prompt and send it again.
Ari Core
A built-in harness that turns any OpenAI, Anthropic or Ollama compatible endpoint into a full coding agent.
The desk
Command palette, prompt stash, usage dashboard, a file explorer with an editor, and themes.
Platforms
Windows, macOS and Linux, with a phone app you install from the browser.

Open source, MIT licensed.

Read every line, build it yourself, or add the agent you use. A new agent is one driver: detection, transport and its model list slot in around it.

  • Event-sourced. A session is an append-only journal and the screen is drawn from it.
  • Sandboxed. The window can't touch your system directly; the explorer and editor stay inside the project.
  • Small, strict packages. Each part has one job and typed edges.
